Understanding the human experience of transition

Transitions shape human history. Whether through urbanization, migration, or social transformation, societies are in a constant state of change. At TRANSITION, we investigate the profound impact of rural-urban transitions on individuals and communities.

The centre brings together historians, sociolinguists, and literary scholars to explore how people experience change and how these experiences shape everyday lives, languages and identities that influence contemporary perceptions of and tensions between rural and urban life.
